Maureen Bunyan is a pioneering African American television news anchor and journalist. She was born on September 9, 1946 in Aruba, Caribbean Netherlands, and raised in the United States. Bunyan began her journalism career in the late 1970s and became the first black female news anchor in Washington, D.C. on WUSA-TV.
